Tips on killing chafer grubs

Chafer_grub_2Many lawn owners will be experiencing damage to their lawns from early July through to the Autumn with no real idea why.

It is much easier to walk along and use your eyes to inspect the surface and pick out something obvious like a disease. It makes it much harder though when the damage is being caused from underneath by a grub.

The Chafer grub may well be active in your lawn at moment so it is worth doing a little inspection to find out by digging into the periphery of the damaged area and searching for a cream coloured grub that looks a bit like a 'comma' - The head will be a toffee brown colour and it is possible to be over one inch long.

If you are not particularly keen on chemicals then the use of Nematodes might appeal because it is completely safe and natural.

Nematodes are tiny worms and when released will eat the Chafer grubs without the risk of contaminating anything around you.

You can use Nematodes to control Leatherjackets in exactly the same way.
