Hedge Cutting safety tips

Hedge_cutting_safetyGardeners who work in a commercial capacity should carry our risk assessments and have a duty of care both to themselves and to any co workers.

Health and safety encourages operators to work a buddy buddy system so that any accidents or injuries are immediately reported and dealt with.

In a domestic situation the operator often works alone and because of the nature of the job, often working from ladders or some kind of elevated platform the risk is increased. There is also the added danger of being obscured from view if working behind trees, shrubs, other hedges or fences and therefore not always in view of any house windows.

Cutting tall hedges safely

Anyone who has a tall hedge has to think very carefully about how they go about it. Teetering many feet above the ground on unsecured ladders or rickety scaffolding is not only hazardous but can be life threatening as well.
